Tommy Carns

Tommy Carns was reared by folksingers on Cape Cod and weaned on a steady diet of blues, work songs, black and white spirituals from the southern U.S., ballads from the British Isles, and sea songs from New England.

At the age of 19 he moved to California as part of the rock trio the Hitchhikers. Two years later he spent some time in Amsterdam, where he played in cafes and immersed himself in the craft of writing songs. After spending time working as an intern at the Library of Congress Archive of Folk Culture, he returned to the west coast.

In California he's gained a following as a songwriter, solo performer and band member. He's shared bills with, among others, NRBQ, Ramblin' Jack Elliot, Marshall Crenshaw, Jimmy Dale Gilmore and the late Jeff Buckley.

Besides his work with the Billy Talbot Band, Tommy continues to write and record his own music. Drawing from a rich background, Tommy Carns writes bold songs and sings them from the heart. With shades of country, blues, rock, pop, it's his own flavor.

His debut release on Indo Records is Get Up and Fall Down. The album displays his unique vision of folk rock.

Tommy Carns' ability to write and deliver the words of sadness are without match...still gives me goosebumps after repeated listenings. High praise..."
